- Impressive light show
- Works indoors and outdoors
- Strong battery life
- Average sound quality
- Higher priced than other Bluetooth speakers
I’ve been a fan of Bluetooth speakers since I first found out about them. I love to have the ability to listen to music everywhere I go and Bluetooth speakers made it that much easier for me to have amplified tunes no matter what. In the past several years I’ve really enjoyed testing out different styles of Bluetooth speakers and for the past couple of weeks I’ve had the pleasure of working with a TikiTunes Wireless Speaker by Limitless Innovations.
Limitless Innovations works to provide cutting-edge retail products that help to simplify, charge, and organize customers’ lives. The TikiTunes Wireless Speaker is an example of this type of product because it not only gives users a way to listen to music, but it also provides ambient light. TikiTunes is a portable 5-watt speaker that offers up to 6 hours of continuous playtime. It has a 2000mAh built-in rechargeable battery and you have the option to connect two speakers from a maximum distance of 30 feet for ‘true stereo sound.’ The LED ambient light provides a flickering light that mimics a real flame. The speaker holds an IP65 rating making it dust tight and water–resistant. It can be used for indoor or outdoor entertainment.
WHAT’S IN THE BOX
The first thing I noticed was how cool this speaker looks. It looks a lot like a torch and it fits right in with outdoor decor. I immediately wanted to add 3 more speakers to our patio area so that it would balance out the design of the area. There is no complicated set-up or assembly needed. The speaker is ready to go out of the box. I do recommend that you charge the speaker before use. Connecting to the speaker is simple. Once the speaker is turned on, it enters pairing mode. You can then select it from your Bluetooth device’s menu to connect to it. I didn’t have any issues with it unpairing while I was using it.
As far as battery life goes, I was pretty impressed with the longevity. I used it a couple of times while I was at work and played music consistently throughout the day. I never received a ‘low battery’ warning, but I saw when I was nearing the 6-hour mark and plugged the speaker into a power source so it could charge. There is a small flap on the back of the speaker that covers the Micro USB port. The rubber flap did not seem to stay in place very well, which is not good because it ensures that the speaker remains water resistant for that port.
As far as sound quality goes, I was not extremely impressed. In fact, I would give it a 6 out of 10. Music came through clear, but it was a bit hollow sounding. I would actually say that with the exception of being a little louder, the sound quality wasn’t much better than the speakers on my iPhone XS. For me, the real star of the feature set of TikiTunes is the ambient light. The speaker has this glorious amber light that flickers like a live flame. It really makes for a nice addition to any entertainment setting. It’s gentle, warm, and relaxing.
TikiTunes is an average Bluetooth speaker that provides a one-of-a-kind ambient light. It fits in well with outdoor decor and is easy to pair to. It retails for around $40 (at the time of publishing this review), which is a little high in my opinion considering the audio quality that is produced. The device is well-made, but I want more depth from my Bluetooth speakers. If the sound quality were improved, this speaker would easily be a 10 in my book because of the unique light show it puts on.
